THE Zimbabwe Castle Larger Premier Soccer league (PSL) match day two fixtures were on Tuesday postponed in unclear circumstances following a dramatic withdrawal by the match officials moments before kickoff.

In a statenent, the PSL quickly responded to the incident and notified the public of the postponement of the fixtures.

“This serves to advise that all Castle Larger Premier Soccer League Match-day two fixtures scheduled for this week have been postponed.

This has been necessitated by non-appearance of the match officials at all match venues”, said the PSL chief executive officer, Kennedy Ndebele.

Some of the match officials appeared at the match venues, only to withdraw their services just before the teams started their warm ups.

Ndebele added that, “Some of the match officials had travelled from various parts of the country and had logged in for team inspections, only to withdraw their services before commencement of team warm-ups”.

The PSL expressed concern regarding the way that match officials conducted business and efforts to get the correct position on the mishap from the ZIFA referees committee were fruitless.

“The PSL is concerned by the lack of communication by the ZIFA referees committee as we tried to engage them on the matter to no avail”, Ndebele said.

It is not clear if this is one of the manifestations of the ZIFA board suspension by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) earlier in the day.
